Il giorno prima del Grand Départ del Tour de France del 2019 a Bruxelles, Giulio Ciccone non era un uomo inseguito dai giornalisti. All'inizio della nostra chiacchierata di 30 minuti aveva timidamente e modestamente confidato il suo sogno di una vittoria di tappa: "Ne ho già vinta una al Giro d'Italia e sogno di vincerne una anche al Tour de France. Ho già realizzato metà del mio sogno e perché non sperarci? Da qui in avanti, non posso che migliorare."
Giulio Ciccone una settimana dopo quella intervista era quasi riuscito a realizzare il suo sogno mettendo a segno un fantastico secondo posto in cima a La Planche des Belles Filles. Oltre al podio quel piazzamento gli aveva regalato una cosa ancora più importante della vittoria di tappa: la testa della corsa e la Maglia Gialla di leader della classifica del Tour de France, tenuta indosso per 24 ore.
Una tappa al Giro, llo status di uomo da tenere ben d'occhio in tutte le tappe di montagna e poi la maglia gialla. Niente male come estate, no?
