Desire: The Rouleur Collection

Desire: The Rouleur Collection

Cycling history and subtle design come together with a cross-hatch pattern in Rouleur’s new own line of superb kit

It was one of the loudest, shoutiest cycling kits of its time. And being the 1990s, that is saying something.

Yet the Mapei team kit ridden to victory by the likes of Johan Museeuw, Michele Bartoli and Tony Rominger is the inspiration behind the understated design of Rouleur’s first collection of own line clothing – shot here by photographer Michael Blann.

Intent on creating a range that represents the practical needs and aesthetic desires of its readers, yet also offering a nod to the magazine’s ethos of telling the story of cycling beautifully and uniquely, Rouleur’s designers picked out the colours from those bright tumbling cubes that covered Mapei thighs and backsides, and distilled them into a subtle cross-hatch pattern.

And that’s what adorns the cuffs of the jersey and bibs that sit at the centre of the range, and gives colour to the base layers, socks and cap that accompany it. The full kit is complemented with arm and knee warmers, all bespoke designs, crafted from the finest Italian fabrics in one of the world’s top factories.
